The musical event will be held on Friday 14 June at 21.30 pm at the suggestive “Palace of Portici” (via Università, 100 Portici). Jazz Neighborhoods Orkestrine will delight the audience with its Neapolitan Gipsy Jazz inside the “Real Orto Botanico”. In addition to the songs from their albums, the band will also pay homage to their inspiration and maestro Pino Daniele.
The Concert and the Band
During the event, the audience will be able to enjoy the performances of the entire “Quartieri Jazz Orkestrine”, led by Neapolitan guitarist Mario Romano. The band includes Alessandro De Carolis on flutes, Luigi Esposito on piano, Alberto Santaniello on rhythm guitar, Ciro Imperato on bass and Emiliano Barrella on drums. This concert promises to be one of the band’s most evocative, thanks to the splendid location and the rich musical repertoire. Songs from their previous albums will be performed, including “E Strade ca portato a Mare” (2013), “Le 4 giornate di Napoli” (2016) and “La Città Parallela” (2023), which tells in music the thousand facets and contradictions of Naples.
The Location: Royal Palace of Portici
The Royal Palace of Portici is an imposing monumental palace, today home to the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Naples "Federico II" and the MUSA Center - Museums of Agricultural Sciences. Located between the slopes of Vesuvius and the small port of Granatello, the Palace was built in 1738 by Charles of Bourbon and Maria Amalia of Saxony as a summer residence for the Bourbon dynasty of Naples. Famous architects and decorators such as Medrano, Canevari, Vanvitelli, Fuga, Canart, Bonito, Re and Geri participated in its construction.
The Botanical Garden
Within the Royal Palace complex, the Botanical Garden, founded in 1872 and expanded in 1873-77 under the initiative of Nicola Antonio, extends over 7.400 square meters. It is an exceptional example of the fusion between a scientific museum, a historical garden and an archaeological site. Among its English-style avenues, there are works of art such as the Fountain of the Sirens, the Kiosk of King Charles and the Fountain of the Swans, as well as an amphitheater.
