In Naples, on the occasion of the Festa della Musica, the Campania Archival and Bibliographic Superintendency is organizing the concert "In viaggio con M. Sax" on Friday, June 21st, at 19 pm. The musical evening will be performed by the "Duæ Siciliæ Saxophone Ensemble" at the Fondazione Banco Napoli, home of the Banco di Napoli Historical Archives, located on Via dei Tribunali.
A Review Rich in Musical Styles and Genres
The "Duæ Siciliæ Saxophone Ensemble" is composed of Sicilian and Campanian students from the saxophone course led by Maestro Gianfranco Brundo, professor of saxophone at the "San Pietro a Majella" Conservatory in Naples. The concert offers a musical journey through different centuries and genres, ranging from symphonic music to Gershwin's musicals, to popular and pop music of the last century. The orchestra, composed of 14 saxophonists and a conductor, uses the entire family of instruments invented by Adolph Sax to recreate a real orchestra.
Archive Notes for the Mile of Memory
This concert inaugurates the "Archive Notes for the Mile of Memory" series, organized with the support of the Directorate General of Entertainment and in collaboration with the Pietà de' Turchini Foundation. The series includes a total of six musical events, concluding in October 2024. The events will take place within the historic buildings of Naples' Greco-Roman history, which house numerous public and private institutions with vast bibliographic and archival holdings.
Valorisation of Documentary Heritage
The event, which seventeen institutions have joined through the "Miglio della Memoria" Memorandum of Understanding, aims to promote, raise awareness, and enhance the documentary heritage of the city of Naples. The goal is to develop innovative initiatives capable of engaging a broad audience, including non-specialists, in cultural venues.
