Naples. The fire on the Camaldoli hill, which seemed to be under control, started again this morning on the Pianura side, forcing the firefighters to return to action.
The flames, which were burning near residential areas, required the precautionary evacuation of some families.
The fire, which already caused extensive damage two days ago, has rekindled the anger of citizens and local representatives.
Green Alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli denounced the delays in the air response: "Too many hours passed between the sighting of the first fire and the arrival of the Canadairs, allowing the fire to grow. The consequences could have been far more tragic."
Borrelli announces that, once the fire is put out, he will be asked to monitor the environmental situation and assess the damage.

A firefighting helicopter has carried out water drops and the power line is being disconnected to allow additional aircraft to intervene.
The fire of the Camaldoli highlights once again the need for greater prevention. As Borrelli underlines, "We can no longer wait for similar tragedies to occur before we can take action. We need a serious land and forest management plan, with maintenance and cleanup efforts in at-risk areas."
