A serious accident occurred last night in Savignano Irpino, in the province of Avellino, where a 12-year-old boy was seriously injured after his mini motorbike collided with a car.
The twelve-year-old, riding his mini motorbike, collided with the car on the provincial road that leads to the State Road 90 of Puglia. In the impact, he lost his helmet and suffered two bruises on his head.
Quickly rescued by the driver, a retired local doctor, the boy was first transferred to the hospital in Ariano Irpino and then, stabilized by emergency room doctors, was transported by air ambulance to Santobono in Naples.
The boy is currently in a medically induced coma with a reserved prognosis. His condition is serious, but his life is not expected to be in danger.
The mayor of Savignano Irpino, Fabio Della Marra, is following the situation with concern, along with his community. Out of solidarity with the boy and his family, he has decided to postpone his recent re-election celebrations until next week.
The accident reopens the debate on the safety of mini motorcycle, often protagonists of accidents, especially among minors. The competent authorities invite caution and respect for the rules to avoid similar tragedies.
