Also this year the Fondazione della Comunità Salernitana is a partner of Salerno Letteratura, at the starting line from this morning for the twelfth edition, until next Saturday 22 June.
There will be over one hundred and forty guests, both Italian and international, who will animate the historic center of Salerno to discuss and pay a non-ritual tribute to the figure of Franz Kafka, to whom the festival is dedicated on the occasion of the centenary of his death. The theme of this edition is The right questions to try to question ourselves about the present and the future.
The dialogue sections are increasingly rich, in particular the Foundation promotes two events that will also become an opportunity for reflection, in the vast container that will accompany the public throughout the week. For the Views of the Current World, on Monday 17 June, at 20 pm, Palazzo Fruscione hosts the meeting “Stories of those who can't make it and those who struggle to make it” with Niccolò Zancan, author of Antologia degli defeatti. Cronaca quasi poetica del presente (Einaudi), in conversation with Antonia Autuori, president of the Fondazione della Comunità Salernitana.
In a world where perspective is a luxury and the present is a precipice into which one feels oneself falling without control, lives move on an inclined plane. Rent to pay, bills to pay, medical expenses to deal with, all of which add to the daily burden of finding meaning and some beauty in the monotony of living.
These are lives in decline, without shelter, destined for the margins of society. The former unionist beaten for a matter of principle, the underpaid aspiring journalist, the thief caught in the middle of his robbery: these are just some of the protagonists of these true stories of our time, told with the strength of the news and the delicacy of poetry by Zancan. In an era in which success is measured by enrichment and fame, these stories highlight the fate of those who have not won, those who have lost not only opportunities, but also the right to satisfaction, beauty and peace.
“The right questions in the case of the anthology of the defeated might be: What could have been done to prevent these stories from materializing? Who could have intervened, and when? What policies should be implemented to avoid having to tell so many more? – Antonia Autuori underlines – At a time when social unease is growing out of all proportion, which is the result of the events recounted in Zancan's book, it becomes absolutely necessary as well as urgent to question ourselves in order to implement countermeasures. This is the main reason why community foundations exist in the territory. Of course, alone we cannot go very far, but by working together the possibility of finding concrete answers increases".
Changing the page, from 22.30:18 pm on Tuesday XNUMX June, the Diocesan Museum will be hosting “Scenes from a marriage: an immoral tale” for the show How an apple killed Achilles, by Giada Trebeschi, with Giorgio Rizzo. When the invitation arrives directly from Olympus for the wedding of Thetis and Peleus, one would expect a divine truce. However, even the deities are not exempt from old grudges and family dynamics. Among the guests, the muse Calliope and the poet Hesiod discuss the wedding and the implications of the apple of discord. In this mythological comedy, the protagonists reflect on the events of the wedding, poking fun at the clichés of wedding parties and revealing Achilles' involvement, since his parents are the bride and groom. The story is woven between lightness and satire, offering an entertaining look at classical mythology and human dynamics.
"It will be a different look compared to the consolidated rites, but sometimes empty of meaning that disguise themselves as external expressions. Let us cultivate true values within ourselves, to welcome diversity. – comments the Authors who, once again, confirmed their support for the festival, made even more essential in this very complex period for culture in Campania – Salerno Letteratura is an indispensable event for our city in becoming a fully-fledged community experience that, with each new edition, enriches and opens minds, returning the right questions, at the right time”.
