ILaceno d'Oro International Film Festival, Avellino's iconic cinematic event, has officially announced the opening of the calls for its three competitions and the dates of the 49th edition, which will be held from 1 to 8 December 2024. This annual festival is a point of reference for emerging and established filmmakers, and offers a platform for the presentation of innovative works in the world of cinema.
Competitions and Registrations
Registration for the festival's competitions is now open on the international platform www.filmfreeway.com and on the festival's official website www.lacenodoro.it, with a deadline of September 12. The festival includes three competitive sections: Laceno d'Oro 49, dedicated to feature-length fiction films or 'cinema of the real' and documentaries; Gli occhi sulla città, reserved for short films that address themes related to urban spaces, the environment and the landscape; and Spazio Campania “Chiara Rigione”, for works made by authors from Campania or set in the Campania region, in honor of the young and talented Irpinia director who died prematurely. The works in competition will be evaluated by technical juries composed of artists and professionals in the sector.
Prizes and Awards
The winning works will receive cash prizes, with a prize of 3000 Euros for the Laceno d'Oro 49 section, 1500 Euros for Gli occhi sulla città, and 1000 Euros for the best film in the Spazio Campania section. In addition to the standard prizes, the festival includes the assignment of two prizes by the Popular Jury: Best Laceno d'Oro 49 film and Best Spazio Campania film. The winners of these prizes will receive an art object created by an author from Campania, selected by the teachers of the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples.
Organization and Artistic Direction
The Laceno d'Oro International Film Festival is organized by the Circolo ImmaginAzione of Avellino, chaired by Antonio Spagnuolo. The artistic direction is entrusted to Maria Vittoria Pellecchia, while Aldo Spiniello is responsible for the programming. The event stands out for its dedication to the promotion of quality cinema and for its ability to attract works of great cultural and artistic relevance, making it an unmissable event in the international film scene.
