Naples. This morning the construction site in Villa Comunale was inaugurated to kick off the redevelopment and enhancement works of one of the city's symbolic places.
The opening ceremony was attended by Vincenzo Santagada, Councilor for Green Areas, and Giovanna Mazzone, President of the 1st Municipality.
Two projects for a single goal
The interventions are part of two distinct but complementary projects:
Redevelopment of the Villa Comunale: funded by the Metropolitan City of Naples with €1.355.000, the project includes tree maintenance and safety measures, replacement of light bulbs with energy-efficient LED models, reorganization of flowerbeds, planting of diseased trees, resurfacing of deteriorated pavements, repainting and maintenance of the fencing, creation of a single children's play area, and renovation of the water and sewer systems.
Restoration and enhancement of the Villa Comunale in Naples: funded by the Ministry of the Interior with €1.332.000 as part of the PNRR Objectives Support Plan, the project includes resurfacing the Cassa Armonica area, completing Largo Meridiana with the restoration of the sundial, restoring the existing artwork, replacing the benches and waste bins with new models, and creating recycling centers for separate waste collection that will eliminate the existing bins in the Villa.

"Today is an important day for the city and for the Municipal Administration," declared Councilor Santagada.

The expected duration of the works is 300 days for the redevelopment project and 420 days for the restoration and enhancement project.
