On Friday, June 14, at 19.00:XNUMX p.m., the exhibition I compassi del mondo will be inaugurated at the Museo Archeologico Virtuale in Ercolano by Serge Toubiana, a leading expert on François Truffaut's cinema, with the participation of the exhibition curators Ciro Cacciola and Mario Serenellini. A cocktail will follow.

Compasses of the World: Cinema and Women by François Truffaut

Women's legs
they are like compasses
which measure the globe in all directions,
giving it its balance and harmony.

François Truffaut

A digital exhibition that, hosted in the museum space completely reconfigured for the occasion, explores Truffaut's cinema and the feminine world that runs through all his works.

The exhibition, with free admission, will remain on the program until August 10, only in the evening. Consult the page of the MAV website www.museomav.it/icompassidelmondo for opening times and days)

The exhibition is a paradise of female beauty, as Fellini (City of Women), an author adored by Truffaut, would have wanted it: a springtime anthology of legs, a large bouquet of 'compasses', young, straight, well-turned.

On the 40th anniversary of Truffaut's death (October 21, 2024), the exhibition is a long parable: punctuated in his films by equally seductive parables of feminine charm. Compasses, those of Bernadette Lafont, in the first accessible short film, Les Mistons, compasses those of Fanny Ardant, his last great love, in Vivement dimanche! The exhibition retraces Truffaut's entire cinema, setting in motion, with frames and a series of freeze-frames, the legs of his feminine firmament, from Catherine Deneuve to Jeanne Moreau, from Isabelle Adjani to Françoise Dorléac.

During the evening, the exhibition catalogue, I compassi del mondo, published by Cronopio Editore, will also be presented.
