Rome. A movie-like robbery was carried out last night at the Bulgari jewelry store on Via Condotti, in the heart of Rome.
The thieves dug a hole in the floor of a room below, thus reaching a service area of the jewelry store. Once inside, they smashed the display cases and stole jewelry valued at approximately €500.
The theft occurred around midnight. The criminals, with careful and planned action, dug a hole in the floor of a room located beneath the jewelry store.
Through the tunnel, they entered a utility room of Bulgari. From here, they gained access to the actual shop, where they smashed the windows and stole valuable jewelry.
The alarm and the rescue
The jewelry store's alarm system went off shortly before midnight, alerting the State Police. Several patrols and officers from the Flying Squad intervened on the scene, and began an investigation.
The Forensic Police carried out investigations to reconstruct the dynamics of the theft and to search for any traces that could help identify the culprits.
The investigations
Investigators are reviewing surveillance camera footage in the area to try to identify the thieves and their getaway vehicle. They are also looking at testimonies from passers-by who may have seen something suspicious.
A great value shot
The value of the loot amounts to about half a million euros, a considerable sum that makes this theft one of the most sensational in recent times in Rome. The State Police is carrying out all the necessary investigations to bring those responsible to justice.
