On June 9, De Luca was reported to the competent judicial authorities for possession of offensive instruments. During a religious service at the Parco Verde church in Caivano, State Police officers found him in possession of a knife.

The elder previous offender he was trying to get close to Father Maurizio Patriciello, the anti-Camorra parish priest.

The order of the Police Commissioner entails an increase in the ordinary warning requirements to which De Luca is already subjected. In particular, he is prohibited from possessing:

  • Transceiver communication devices
    Ballistic Protection Tools
    Weapons with modest offensive capacity
    Weapon reproductions
    Flammable substances
  • Violation of these aggravation provisions is punishable by imprisonment from 1 to 3 years and a fine of up to 5 thousand euros.

Stricter measures for public safety

The issuance of the aggravated oral warning by the Naples Police Chief represents a further sign of the police's commitment to ensuring public safety. The goal is to prevent crime and combat the spread of weapons and dangerous objects.

The solidarity of politics

Many from the worlds of politics and civil society have expressed solidarity with Don Maurizio Patriciello, starting with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and then the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Pianatedosi.

"I express my closeness and solidarity with Don Maurizio Patriciello, the victim of a serious episode of intimidation by an individual close to organized crime.

The fundamental battle for legality that the priest has been carrying out with courage and sacrifice for years in Caivano, to build a better future in such a complex area, will always see all the institutions at his side.

He also thanked "the law enforcement officers for their timely intervention." Ministers Santanchè and Sangiuliano also expressed their gratitude. And then the President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, who had clashed with the Parco Verde park in recent weeks.

The president of the Campania Region expressed "full solidarity with Don Patriciello." The governor calls for "immediate and complete clarity" on the intimidation learned today, "prosecuting those responsible."

"Maurizio is untouchable. He's the priest of all of us and a point of reference for people. If solidarity has a face in Campania, it's his."

This was stated by Chiara Gemma, a recently re-elected MEP for the Brothers of Italy party, who expressed solidarity with the priest from Caivano following the news of the arrest of the father-in-law of the mafia boss Ciccarelli, who, armed with a knife, allegedly attempted to approach the priest during his customary greeting to the faithful.

"One of the first visits I'll make as a newly elected official will be to Don Patriciello," Gemma continues. "President Giorgia Meloni's government has done a tremendous amount of work in Caivano. No one can threaten the priest who symbolizes the redemption of an entire area that has been abandoned for years."
