The initiative features a series of documents and photographs related to Caravaggio, taken from the second volume of the editorial series "Documento>Monumento," supported by the Fondazione Banco Napoli and in collaboration with the Superintendency of Archives and Bibliography of Campania, the Banco Napoli Historical Archives Museum, and with the patronage of the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli."

Naples and Caravaggio: an indissoluble bond
Naples represented a pivotal moment in Caravaggio's life and artistic output. The exhibition offers a journey through the places and figures who played a significant role in the artist's life, such as the "Locanda del Cerriglio," the site of an attack on the artist, and figures such as Geronimo Mastrillo, Tommaso de Franchis, and Giovan Battista Manso, known for their patronage.
Unpublished documents and photographs
Many of the documents on display are previously unpublished and have been interpreted by the project's founding scholars, such as Luigi Abetti, Gloria Guida, Sabrina Iorio, Bianca Stranieri, and Andrea Zappulli. They are joined by young talents such as Annalisa Davide, Pasquale Esposito, Simona Landi, and Luigi Mango. Federica Gioffredi is the talented photographer who interpreted the documentary content through evocative black-and-white shots, using natural light. The result is a "timeless" perspective that creates a magical connection between documents and monuments.
