Naples. Brutal attack the other evening on a 15-year-old by a group of boys from the Spanish Quarters.
The boy, while he was with his sister and a friend, was approached by a boy in the group who, for no apparent reason, slapped him hard on the lip, causing profuse bleeding. The attacker, boasting that he was from the Spanish Quarter, then asked the boy for information about his area of residence.
Unfortunately, the episode is not an isolated case. In fact, for years, the Gallery, especially at sunset, turns into a territory of conquest for baby gangs who spread terror among passers-by and tourists.
"They were armed with clubs and teasers and sent my son home covered in blood"
"Our boys were attacked by four individuals in Galleria Umberto armed with clubs and teasers, and they sent my son home with a bloody face and bruises on his back and head.
They only stopped because my daughter had a fit of crying and screaming.” This is the complaint of the boy's father who in a video sent to the Honorable Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the journalist Pino Grazioli to denounce the situation and request decisive intervention. The victim's parents, outraged and worried, filed a complaint with the Carabinieri.

The complaints and the request for concrete measures
“For years we have been reporting how at sunset the gallery is stormed by violent people, thugs, delinquents and baby gang Yet, apart from temporary and approximate measures, little has been done to restore security.
This way, young criminals have free access and can move around freely, acting with impunity. Not even the stabbing of the 17-year-old, which occurred last November, raised their guard."
Borrelli, who has long been involved in combating youth crime, has called for the adoption of extraordinary control measures, including:
- Increased security and 24/XNUMX surveillance of the Gallery
Relentless fight against youth violence and crime
Dismantling Baby Gangs
A cry of alarm for everyone's safety
The attack on the 15-year-old represents a worrying warning and a cry for the safety of all those who frequent the Galleria Umberto I. In recent weeks, the Naples news has been full of incidents like these.
The competent authorities are called upon to act decisively to restore decorum and legality to one of Naples's most iconic sites, restoring its beauty and usability to residents and tourists. Beyond repressive measures, a concerted effort is needed, involving institutions, law enforcement, families, and schools, to foster a climate of legality and mutual respect, especially among young people.
Only through joint and determined action will it be possible to eradicate the phenomenon of child gangs and restore the Galleria Umberto I to its role as a cultural and social attraction.
