Another attack against the Penitentiary Police in the Secondigliano penitentiary center.
This afternoon, a 30-year-old North African inmate, a repeat offender of violence against both prison police and medical staff, when asked to change rooms, first damaged several pieces of furniture and then attacked the prison police staff who intervened to calm him down. The fight resulted in a prison officer on duty being thrown against the wall. He is currently in hospital receiving treatment.
According to CON.SI.PE national secretary Luigi Castaldo, unfortunately, the management of non-EU and psychiatric inmates is very difficult and destabilizes the order and security of Italian penitentiaries.
Many of these have nothing to lose and are the cause of continuous attacks against both the penitentiary facilities and the entire staff.

Today's Maghrebian was also the author of bloodletting against prison officers and healthcare workers who unfortunately today are following the anti-contagion prophylaxis procedures.
For union representative Castaldo, the high risk faced by Penitentiary Police personnel in these cases must prompt us to find immediate solutions for the management of dangerous individuals and non-EU citizens. For Castaldo, it's time for the government to do its part and find tangible solutions to these ongoing, serious, and critical incidents.
CON.SI.PE wishes a speedy recovery and full solidarity to the attacked police officer.
