Naples. The ongoing work to fix the elevators and escalators in the Naples Metro stations is nearing completion.
"Work in progress - the mayor of Naples explained Gaetano Manfredi - They are not due to faults, but we had to comply with a legal obligation that requires the replacement of all elevators and escalators after thirty years.
We've allocated the resources and developed a replacement program. This program is meeting deadlines. Depending on the timing of the technical inspections for issuing the permit, some facilities should be open before the summer.

The Councillor for Infrastructure and Mobility of the Municipality of Naples, Edward Cosenza, he clarified the methods of the work carried out: "We managed to keep all the stations open even if, naturally, there are some problems for users.
Some of the equipment has already been replaced, while others are currently undergoing work, which requires authorization from the National Safety Agency. We understand the difficulties, but the work was unavoidable, and the only alternative would have been to close the stations, causing even greater disruption.
Several stations will reopen soon:
- Upper District:
Mezzanine-platform elevator: imminent activation thanks to the authorization from Ansfisa.
Disabled lift: completed, undergoing checks and activation by the end of the week.
Gold Medals: Waiting for Ansfisa's approval to reopen the elevators.
Vanvitelli:
Odd platform elevators: active.
Work in progress for the even platform elevators.
Elevator for disabled people: work to start soon, completion by the end of July.
Montedonzelli:
Elevators completed, checks and staff training underway for next week.
Request for Ansfisa no objection to follow.
