Another accident on the streets of Naples. In via Manzoni, a car overturned on the roadway, raising concerns about road safety in the city once again. The municipal councilor of Europa Verde, Lorenzo Pascucci, expressed his indignation: “Car rollovers in cities are becoming more and more frequent. This should make us reflect on the speed at which cars now travel in residential areas and how much recklessness we now have while driving”.
“Our battles and the ever-increasing number of speed bumps installed in the city are not enough. The number of victims we have had in recent years is not enough. Drivers continue to speed without shame. Sooner or later there will be new victims.” Pascucci increasingly receives photos and videos of cars speeding in via Manzoni.
The Green-Left Alliance MP, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, also commented on the incident: “He was definitely going very fast, otherwise the rollover would not be explained. These scenes are now a habit and the roads increasingly seem like rally tracks where controls are lacking and certain irresponsible people and delinquents are allowed to spread panic and put the lives of others in danger as well as their own.”
Both stress the urgency of stopping this madness. “More checks, fines and seizures; and speed bumps, anti-speed devices and raised pedestrian crossings on all critical roads, even near hospitals,” proposes Borrelli, indicating these measures as the only effective solutions to truly combat excessive speeding of cars in the city.
