Naples. The man who caused a serious traffic accident in Naples on the night of June 7th to 8th, injuring three people, two of them seriously, and then fleeing the scene, has been identified and charged. Naples Local Police, however, were able to identify him and file a criminal complaint.
The man, a resident of Mugnano di Napoli, was driving a Fiat Panda along Via Pietro Castellino when he overtook another car. At the same time, a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction approached, and the Panda struck him head-on.
The impact was violent and caused serious injuries to the motorcycle driver and his passenger, who were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the overtaken car was also injured.
The escape and the identification
After 'accidentThe hit-and-run driver fled in his Panda, but officers from the Operations Center of the Local Police Central Command, using the city's video surveillance system, were able to identify the vehicle's license plate. They then responded to the Panda's owner's residence in Mugnano di Napoli, where they identified and reported the man for failure to render assistance and hit-and-run.
The man admitted his responsibilities
During questioning, the man confessed to having been driving the Panda at the time of the accident and to having fled the scene out of fear of the consequences.The man will face several charges, including grievous bodily harm, failure to provide assistance, and escape.
This episode, unfortunately, is just the latest to hit the news in Naples in recent months. Road fatalities and accidents due to speeding, distracted driving, and failure to follow traffic rules are constantly increasing.
