The closure of via Conte della Cerra, at the crossroads with via San Gennaro in Antignano, is causing significant hardships to residents and merchants in the area.
The decision to close the area was taken following the risk of collapse of a building adjacent to the entrance of the territorial ASL, owned by the Santobono hospital. The situation, however, is not the result of a sudden emergency. According to the statements of the deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the councilors of Europa Verde of the V Municipality, Gennaro Nasti and Luca Bonetti, the problem has worsened due to the indifference, carelessness and superficiality with which the dangerousness of a building that has been shored up for decades has been managed. No one, so far, has seriously addressed the issue.
“We ask the hospital administrators to intervene promptly to decide whether to definitively demolish or make the building safe again without further hesitation. It is not possible that one of the main roads connecting the city center and the hilly area remains closed for a long time, creating chaos in city mobility,” they stated Borrelli, Nasti and Bonetti.
In the meantime, representatives of Europa Verde are calling for the installation of adequate road signs. The lack of appropriate indications has led to long patrols by the Local Police, diverting resources from other priorities. Furthermore, it is considered necessary to ensure a safe pedestrian passage for access to Piazza degli Artisti.
