As 2026 approaches, when Naples will be the European Capital of Sport, the city aims to achieve ambitious goals, including internationally renowned events. Naples City Councilor for Sport, Emanuela Ferrante, emphasized the importance of Sports as an emerging reality that involves numerous economic activities.
"It is necessary to fill the gap caused by the lack of specific discipline," Ferrante declared during the 'Virtual Sport Summit' held today at Maschio Angioino, "But I'm sure that, in conjunction with the more open Federations, we will be able to create a cutting-edge regulatory framework."
The event, organized by the Italian Esports Observatory and Emaze Gaming, brought together Italian sports federations and leagues committed to esports development. The "Virtual Sports Summit," now in its second year and sponsored by the Department of Sport of the City of Naples, represented an important opportunity to share experiences and knowledge on esports programs and to engage with competitive gaming professionals.
Participants included representatives of Italian sports institutions such as the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation, the Italian Taekwondo Federation, the Italian Roller Sports Federation, the Italian Rowing Federation, the National Amateur Football League, ACI Esports, and the Campania National Olympic Committee (CONI), demonstrating the widespread interest in the sector.
"The councilor's innovative approach demonstrates how Esports can open up incredible opportunities not only for Naples, but for the entire sector," commented Luigi Caputo, CEO of the Italian Esports Observatory and Emaze Gaming. "The Summit represents a turning point for the entire Italian Esports sector, recognizing the importance of virtual sports in the overall development of the sports system."
