A large forest fire broke out this afternoon on the Camaldoli hill in Naples. The flames, visible from kilometers away, threatened some residential areas, but thanks to the timely intervention of the firefighters, no damage was caused to people or buildings.
Firefighters, including aerial rescue teams, have worked tirelessly to contain the flames. Firefighting operations are still ongoing, and the flames are visible for kilometers.
The ash spread throughout the neighborhoods of Soccavo, Pianura, Fuorigrotta, even reaching the city center.
Although the fire was started deliberately, as confirmed by ongoing investigations, it did not pose an imminent danger to residential areas.
Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi reassured residents of the situation, emphasizing the efforts of law enforcement and firefighters to contain the blaze.

Mayor Gaetano Manfredi on X writes: "In constant contact with the prefect and the VdF for the fire that hit the hill ofthe Camaldoli".
"At the moment, thanks to the timely intervention, the fire is not threatening residential areas. Crews will remain on standby tonight, and aerial firefighting operations will resume tomorrow."

The prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, also went to the site of the fire that broke out late this evening on the Camaldoli hill in Naples.
At the same time, the prefect activated the rescue coordination center to monitor the situation and is meeting with the leaders of the teams who arrived to put out the flames.
