Naples. Yesterday afternoon, around 16:00, the Carabinieri of the Centro Company intervened in via Francesco Saverio Correra following the report of an injured person.
At the scene, the military found a 44-year-old man, originally from Sri Lanka, lying on the ground and bleeding. The victim had several deep and serious stab wounds to his neck, chest and right thigh.
Quickly rescued by 118, the man was rushed to Pellegrini Hospital, where he was admitted with a red code. His condition is serious, but not life-threatening.
The investigation, conducted by the Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of the Central Company, allowed them to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident and identify the alleged attacker.

During the evening yesterday, the Carabinieri arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of crime, compatriot of the victim, homeless and already known to the police.
According to the investigation, a violent argument broke out between the two men, which then escalated into assault, for reasons still unclear. Investigators are investigating the possibility of a trivial dispute, possibly related to a disputed woman.
The arrested man, charged with attempted murder, was transferred to Naples prison pending a validation hearing.

The investigation continues to establish the exact facts and identify any accomplices. The Carabinieri are reviewing footage from local surveillance cameras and interviewing witnesses.
