Naples. Yesterday, a patrol of the Poggioreale Penitentiary Police arrested a 40-year-old man of Tunisian origin while he was attempting to break into a home near the prison.

The man, already known to law enforcement, also had an arrest warrant against him.

The arrest was made thanks to the careful surveillance of the area by Penitentiary Police officers.

"The focus on external surveillance of Campania's penitentiaries ensures greater security from potential intrusions or escapes, while also controlling the perimeter territory, as commendably done by the Penitentiary Police personnel patrolling Salvia Prison in Poggioreale.", commented the regional secretary CON.

SI.PE Campania Luigi Castaldo.

Castaldo emphasized the importance of the work carried out by the Penitentiary Police, which is often underestimated and carried out understaffed.

"There are many skills in the Penitentiary Police and despite the ancestral staff shortages, it guarantees safety with a high sense of duty to the company, while remaining in the shadows", declared the trade unionist.

The prison police requests a meeting with the government

Castaldo finally urged the Government to intervene decisively in response to the numerous reports CON.SI.PE makes in the public interest. "The government urgently needs to address the many complaints CON.SI.PE makes in the public interest."he concluded.

The man was taken to prison in Aversa. According to ASP.PE National Councilor in CON.SI.PE Vincenzo Santoriello, the Penitentiary Police Corps deserves due recognition for the many roles and responsibilities it carries out in protecting the homeland.
