Two architectural jewels are reborn in Naples as symbols of legality and social redemption. The Church of San Biagio ai Taffettanari and the Church of Sant'Arcangelo a Baiano will be the protagonists of two important projects promoted by the Archdiocese of Naples, in collaboration with L'Altra Napoli Onlus and with the support of various institutions.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Archaeological Superintendency and several local entities, the Church of San Biagio ai Taffettanari is preparing to guard a precious treasure: the "San Gregorio Armeno School of Training in Nativity Scene Art".
Born from the collaboration with the association of Botteghe di San Gregorio Armeno, the school will have the task of passing on to new generations the ancient Neapolitan nativity scene art, an invaluable cultural heritage.
Sant'Arcangelo a Baiano: a crossroads of culture, theater and social commitment
The beating heart of the Forcella neighborhood, the Church of Sant'Arcangelo in Baiano is preparing to become a hub for social gathering and rebirth. The commitment of L'Altra Napoli Onlus, in synergy with the institutions, will give new life to this sacred place, transforming it into a center of cultural, theatrical and educational activities.
Theater workshops, opportunities for women and children to meet and grow will be at the heart of this project, with the aim of enhancing the talent and potential of the neighborhood.
A virtuous combination of commitment and enhancement of heritage
The recovery of these two historic churches represents a fundamental step in the path of legality and social redemption started in Naples. Archbishop Don Mimmo Battaglia underlines the importance of this synergy between ecclesiastical bodies, institutions and third sector entities, defining it as "a fundamental network for building paths of friendship, solidarity, liberation and justice".
The commitment of L'Altra Napoli Onlus
Ernesto Albanese, president of L'Altra Napoli Onlus, expressed the organization's deep satisfaction for the opportunity to collaborate with the Archdiocese in this project: "We are honored to support the diocese in its commitment to young people. We have been working in Forcella for years with projects dedicated to the little ones, and thanks to the recovery of these two sacred places we will finally have adequate spaces to offer them new opportunities for growth and education."
The redevelopment project of the Churches of San Biagio ai Taffettanari and Sant'Arcangelo a Baiano represents a tangible sign of hope for Naples. The synergy between different entities and realities demonstrates that legality and social redemption are achievable goals, and that the valorization of cultural heritage can be a driver of positive change.
