Naples Carabinieri dismantle “Point Break” robber gang: 150 euros in loot

The Carabinieri of the Investigative Nucleus of Naples, assisted by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples North, have dismantled a dangerous gang of robbers who were spreading terror among entrepreneurs, traders and commercial agents.
The criminals, nicknamed “Point Break” for their rapid and spectacular actions, operated using the “reverse thread” technique: they stalked their victims for days, studying their habits and suddenly attacking them with firearms to steal their cash.
The investigations, started in October 2022 and conducted with technical activities, shadowing and observations, have allowed the identification and arrest of seven people, six of whom have already been in pre-trial detention since May 2023.
The “Point Breaks” were responsible for a series of robberies for a total of 131.620 euros, but the accusatory framework was expanded with the involvement of two other accomplices for two further robberies and a profit of 20.000 euros.
The gang's modus operandi
The investigation revealed the modus operandi of the gang: they identified the victim, followed him for days, planned the attack and robbed him violently, also using firearms.
Among the means at their disposal were dedicated cell phones, cards registered to front men, two toy guns, a bulletproof vest and a fleet of motorcycles and cars.
In addition to the robberies already committed, the Carabinieri discovered that the gang was planning other robberies on banks in Campania, Parma and Belgium. To this end, they had already acquired information on potential targets, purchased four special silicone masks for disguise and found a handler in Romania.
The Carabinieri operation led to the arrest of six of the seven suspects, while the last one is still wanted. The investigations continue to ascertain any accomplices and reconstruct the gang's logistical support network.
