Naples. Yesterday afternoon, a 49-year-old man was arrested by the State Police after attempting to break into the ticket vending machine at the Piazza Amedeo metro station.

The intervention took place following a report received by the Operations Room of the San Ferdinando Police Station. The officers, who promptly arrived on site, found the man intent on tampering with the distributor. At the sight of the police, the man reacted violently, threatening them and hitting them with an iron object.
After a struggle, the officers managed to stop the man and recover the money stolen from the vending machine, as well as several burglary tools he had with him.
The thief attacked the police
The man, a Neapolitan with a specific police record for property crimes, was arrested for improper robbery, threats, resisting a public official, assaulting a public official and unjustified possession of altered keys or lock picks.
The arrested man was taken to the prison in Naples awaiting the validation trial.
Investigations are ongoing to ascertain any accomplices and to reconstruct the complete dynamics of the incident.
