Naples. Local Police officers intervene promptly to catch a thief who snatched two gold necklaces from a tourist.
Yesterday afternoon, a Milanese tourist was the victim of a snatch theft while walking on Via San Carlo, at the intersection with Piazza Trieste and Trento. A man snatched two gold necklaces worth about 400 euros from her neck and then fled through the nearby alleys.
The episode did not go unnoticed. The immediate alarm attracted the attention of the Local Police officers, Chiaia Operative Units and IAES (Environmental Investigation and Social Emergencies), who were nearby.
Thanks to their timely intervention, the man was tracked down and stopped shortly after the theft. The Neapolitan criminal, known pickpocket, was arrested and taken to the Poggioreale prison, at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor on duty, awaiting trial.
The arrest demonstrates the commitment and effectiveness of the Local Police in ensuring the safety of citizens and tourists visiting the city of Naples.
