The "Words Are Missing Me" project, funded by the Ministry of Culture's Center for Books and Reading and led by the Giffoni Experience Autonomous Body, aims to enhance the experience of reading in preschool. From July 19th to 28th, Giffoni will host a series of events dedicated to children: readings aloud, illustration workshops, and book crossing, involving non-profit and cultural associations in various Italian regions.

Reading and Illustration Activities

One of the project's key sections is "Read Me a Story? Little Readers Grow Up," which involves dramatizing texts chosen by the children, aided by professional actors to facilitate comprehension. These sessions, enriched by graphic representations using expressive techniques such as sand art, will also feature dedicated musical accompaniment. The program includes book presentations such as "You and I" by Evelyn Daviddi and "The New Yorkers" by Marta Partaleo, with the authors present.

Workshops and Training

In parallel, the "Prevention and In-formation" initiative, carried out in collaboration with San Nicola di Giffoni Valle Piana, aims to raise awareness among parents, local workers, and the educational community about the educational role of reading. As part of #Giffoni54, two meetings dedicated to this part of the project will be held on July 21st and 25th.

Book Crossing and Cultural Exchange

Another key element is the "Mystery Book and Book Crossing" program, which involves book exchanges between children from the five participating regions. This activity aims to promote book circulation and the value of sharing through decorations and illustrations related to the reading of specific titles. Meetings are scheduled for July 22, 24, and 25.

Collaborations and Territorial Network

The project involves a broad partnership that includes various associations and cooperatives, creating a regional network spanning five Italian regions: Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, Sardinia, and Veneto. This allows for all aspects of the project, from educational to social and healthcare, to be addressed with qualified and trained partners. Aiming to stimulate children's interest in reading and engage the educational community, the "I'm Not Lost in Words" project represents an important step forward in promoting reading in preschool.
