The two were shot and killed in an ambush at the Succivo exit of the Nola-Villa Literno highway.
The first murderer, a 53-year-old from Cesa and resident in San Cipriano d'Aversa, blocked the car of the Marrandino brothers while they were aboard their white BMW. Mangiacapra, at the wheel of a gray Golf, fired several gunshots at Claudio, who was in the passenger seat, killing him on the spot. Marco, who was driving, attempted to escape but was caught and killed in turn by the murderer.
The motive is linked to the murderer's family properties that ended up at auction
The Carabinieri of the Marcianise Company are investigating the double homicide to clarify the motive. Various hypotheses are being examined, including an inheritance issue (Marco was the lawyer of some of Mangiacapra's relatives) and grudges linked to the world of judicial auctions and properties of the murderer's family that ended up on the market.
Mangiacapra's arrest in clinic
After the murder, Mangiacapra attempted to build himself an alibi by going to the Pineta Grande Clinic of Castel Volturno, complaining that he had been the victim of a robbery. Shortly after, he was identified and arrested by the police.
Marco Marrandino, a highly respected civil lawyer and socially committed, was known for his integrity. He was the father of a small child. He had also been a city councilor. His brother Claudio was a building contractor who worked outside the region.
Marco Marrandino had also been a municipal councilor in Cesa
The community of Cesa is in shock over what happened. The Marrandino brothers were very well known and appreciated. The mayor of Cesa, Enzo Ferraro, expressed his condolences for the tragic death of the two young men.
At the moment the motive for the murder is still unclear. The carabinieri investigations are ongoing to shed light on the matter and bring the culprit to justice.
