Capri. A plan has been defined to avoid any future water emergencies on the island of Capri.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired this morning by the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, attended by the mayors of the island's two municipalities, representatives of Gori (the managing body), the Campania Water Authority, and the Campania Region.

"As I had previously announced, we now have a plan B," explained di Bari. "The proposal, which was accepted, first involves the installation of two desalination plants to ensure adequate flow.

Additionally, we need to have at least twenty tankers ready for deployment within 24 hours. We're also considering using a tanker."

At the moment, there are several activities underway that will soon see the light. I suggested that the activities of the Gori be reported to the two Municipalities and to the Prefecture," added the prefect.

A follow-up meeting will be held within ten days. "This Plan B is taking shape and will be implemented within a few days."

Di Bari specified that the emergency of recent days was addressed "with the utmost promptness, creating safe conditions for the population and guaranteeing essential services with water tankers."

However, the prefect stressed the importance of rationalizing the use of water resources, adding that "this will be another activity that municipalities will have to implement because water is a precious resource."
