A 58-year-old man was arrested by the Carabinieri for threats and illegal possession of a weapon after threatening his neighbors with a katana. The incident occurred in Portici, near Naples, and stems from a long-standing dispute between the man and the tenants on the upper floor.
According to the reconstruction by the military, tensions between the neighbors arose because of a water infiltration from the apartment above, which had damaged the attic of the 58-year-old's home. The man, already under special surveillance with an obligation to stay at home, reacted by pointing his sword at his neighbors.
Frightened by the threat, neighbors immediately called 112. The Carabinieri, arriving on the scene, arrested the man and seized the katana . In addition to seizing the weapon, the Carabinieri have launched an investigation to determine whether the man may be illegally possessing other weapons.
