A 58-year-old man was arrested by the Carabinieri for threats and illegal possession of a weapon after threatening his neighbors with a katana. The episode occurred in Portici, in the Naples area, and has its roots in a long-standing dispute between the man and the tenants of the upper floor.
According to the reconstruction by the military, tensions between the neighbors arose because of a water infiltration from the apartment above, which had damaged the attic of the 58-year-old's home. The man, already under special surveillance with an obligation to stay at home, reacted by pointing his sword at his neighbors.
Frightened by the threat, the neighbors immediately called 112. The carabinieri, who arrived on the scene, arrested the man and seized the katana. The Carabinieri, in addition to seizing the weapon, have started an investigation to verify whether there are other weapons illegally held by the man.
