The 2024 Amarena Award is preparing to celebrate the "Culture of Origins and Places of Worship" in the historic districts of Santa Margherita, San Giovanni, and San Pietro in Piano di Sorrento. The event, spanning three evenings of music, theater, and food, will also feature a special tribute to Salvatore Di Giacomo on the 90th anniversary of his passing, with prominent guests including actress Rosaria Langellotto and artist, poet, and chansonnier Fulvio Palmieri. The initiative is organized by the Archimede Cultural Association and promoted by the City of Piano di Sorrento, with the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Naples.

The Amarena Award represents an opportunity to celebrate the art and culture of the area, part of the "Culture of Origins and Places of Worship" program promoted by the Metropolitan City of Naples. The goal is to enhance the historical, artistic, and archaeological heritage of Piano di Sorrento through a series of events scheduled in iconic locations such as Via Santa Margherita and the Oratory of San Nicola, the Chapel of San Giovanni, and the Colli di San Pietro.
### First Appointment: “Sound 'e Napule”
On Saturday, June 22nd, at 20.30:690 PM, the Oratory of San Nicola on Via Santa Margherita will host the musical "Sound 'e Napule." The evening will feature a performance by a band composed of former students of Sorrento's "Francesco Grandi" Art School: Camilla Mancuso, Roberto Manuel De Vita, and Marianna Domenica Guerriero. Actress Rosaria Langellotto will accompany the performance with interpretive readings. The evening aims to raise funds for the restoration of the Chapel of San Luigi Gonzaga, which is celebrating its XNUMXth anniversary.

On Wednesday, June 26th, at 21.30:XNUMX PM, "Racconti d'Amare…na" (Tales of Amare…na) will take place in the space in front of the Chapel of San Pietro. The evening will be dedicated to the celebration of the amarena cherry, with presentations by the women of the Colli di San Pietro and the Slow Food Community for the Protection of the Amarena Cherry. Food and wine journalist Francesco Pascuzzo will guide the audience on a journey through local delicacies.
### Tastings of Amarena and Solidarity
At the end of each of the evening events on June 22nd, 25th, and 26th, attendees will be able to taste delicious sour cherry recipes prepared by the youth of the Oratory of San Nicola, UNITRE, the Slow Food Community for the Protection of the Amarena Cherry of the Colli di San Pietro, and the women of the Colli di San Pietro.
