The artistic direction of the Charlot Award, the only event in the world dedicated to the greatest actor and director of all time, in relation to the news released yesterday by the press, specifies that the 36th edition of the event will be held, as usual, in the city where the Award was born: Salerno and announces four days of preview at the Charlot Arena in Capezzano.
"Every year, the Charlot Award has organized previews in other cities, not only in the province of Salerno, but in many other Italian cities. We've also often organized post-award evenings outside the city walls, " explains Claudio Tortora, founder and artistic director of the Charlot Award. " Our formula, which involves selecting comedians for the Charlot Giovani, has always included stops throughout Italy.
Unlike other events, our selections have always been open to the public and have always been true spectacles, given the presence of nationally renowned guests. And so, over 36 years, we've held previews of the Award at Zelig in Milan, Tam Tam in Naples, and then again at the Teatro Tenda in Rome, as well as Bologna, Florence, Bari, Palermo, etc., " Tortora continues. " These evenings are complemented by other special evenings, which we've organized before and after the Award in other Italian municipalities, sometimes at the request of individual municipal administrations, other times at the request of theater managers, such as the times we've been in Capezzano, Mercato San Severino, Paestum, etc.
In short, a tried and tested formula and not new for the Charlot Award, which this year, decidedly anomalous compared to the others, due to the issue, well known to most, of the Cohesion Funds, we had a request from the managers of the Charlot Theatre in Capezzano, Gianluca Tortora and Piermarco Raniero Fiore, who at their own expense set up the Charlot Arena outside the theatre, to hold previews in that location.
These are evenings that will be organized by the Charlot Award and the two young entrepreneurs, without any financial support from the Municipal Administration of Pellezzano. So, whoever wanted to write that the Charlot Award is leaving Salerno, just said nonsense. We were born in Salerno, and it is true that for many years we were in Paestum, but then we came back home and here we want to stay and here we will stay”.
Therefore, in the next few days, the Charlot Award will officially present the four evenings that will be held at the Charlot Arena in Capezzano, while waiting to officially present the program of the 36th edition, which will be held in Salerno.
