A cleaner sea thanks to the commitment of FIPSAS: the “Pulifondali” and “Pulispiagge” initiatives, organized on the occasion of World Environment Day, were an exceptional success.
Over 350 quintals of waste were recovered from backdrops and beaches of 40 locations throughout Italy by FIPSAS members and volunteers. Among the waste collected, ghost nets, washing machines, old sewing machines, sunken hulls, marine engines and, unfortunately, a large amount of plastic.
An environmental awareness and cleanup operation made possible by the collaboration with the General Command of the Port Authority Corps - Coast Guard, Rai, the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security and Suzuki.
A commitment to the future: “Every year – declared Prof. Ugo Claudio Matteoli, President of FIPSAS – we ask our members to dedicate a day to protecting the environment. Compared to last year, the number of participating locations has doubled. An encouraging sign that pushes us to continue on this path, to guarantee a better future for future generations.”
“Pulifondali” and “Pulispiagge” represent a concrete example of how everyone’s collaboration and commitment can make a difference in safeguarding our planet.
The initiative had a great media echo, thanks to the collaboration with Rai.
Plastic was the most common type of waste found, demonstrating the urgent need to reduce plastic pollution in the oceans.
The doubling of the number of participating locations compared to the previous year is a tangible sign of the growing interest in environmental protection by citizens.
