The Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, announced his firm refusal to allow the Spanish club to participate in the next Club World Cup, which is scheduled to debut under a new format in the summer of 2025. In an interview with 'Il Giornale', Ancelotti declared that neither the players nor the club will take part in the tournament organised by FIFA.
"FIFA can forget about it. Players and clubs won't be participating in that tournament. A single Real Madrid match is worth €20 million, and FIFA wants to give us that amount for the entire cup. Bad news. Like us, other clubs will refuse the invitation." the coach of the Champions League and La Liga champions stated firmly.
According to the coach, FIFA's financial offer is significantly insufficient compared to the revenue Real Madrid generates from its matches. Real Madrid's refusal could have significant repercussions on the participation of other top European clubs in the tournament, casting doubt on the success of the new Club World Cup format scheduled for 2025.
