Naples. A meeting was held yesterday at the Prefecture of Naples to review the agreement for the restoration of the cultural heritage of the Fund for Buildings of Worship (FEC) in Campania.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Prefect Gaetano Cupello, was attended by representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, the Prefectures of Naples and Avellino, the Interregional Office for Public Works, and the relevant Superintendencies.
Among the main points discussed:
Project approval: The process for approving several executive projects by the Public Works Department and obtaining the opinions of the Superintendencies has been completed. Restoration work on these churches will begin in July.
Progress Report: The progress of all projects covered by the agreement was reviewed. These projects concern 33 places of worship (11 in the province of Avellino, 8 in the metropolitan area of Naples, and 14 in the city of Naples) and 2 bell towers.
Specific Issues: Issues related to individual ongoing project activities were examined, with the aim of fostering collaboration between the various administrations involved.
Next steps:
Start of works: The works for the restoration of churches with already approved projects will begin in July.

In Naples: Church of San Pietro Martire, Church of the Gesù delle Monache, Church of Santa Lucia Vergine al Monte, Church of Santa Maria di Monteverginella, Church of Santa Chiara, Church of San Domenico Maggiore, Church of San Gregorio Armeno, Bell Tower of Santa Chiara, Bell Tower of Santa Maria del Gesù delle Monache.
In the province of Avellino: 11 places of worship to be defined.
In the Naples metropolitan area: Church of Sant'Antonio in Portici, Church of the Madonna dell'Arco in Sant'Anastasia, Church of San Francesco in Sorrento and 8 other places of worship to be determined.
