Benevento. The Naples Court of Appeals has issued a ruling reducing the sentences of Enzo Formisano, 38, from Benevento, represented by Vittorio Fucci, and Guido Sparandeo, 49, from Benevento, represented by Antonio Leone, both charged with aggravated drug dealing in Benevento between 2007 and 2010.
Formisano, 38, was charged with 13 counts of aggravated heroin trafficking, as well as multiple escapes from house arrest. The court confirmed the statute of limitations on some charges, but accepted the defense argument of lawyer Vittorio Fucci, reducing the remaining sentence to 4 years and 2 months (from 6 years and 6 months).
Sparandeus, 49, was charged with nine counts of aggravated heroin trafficking. The court also declared some of his charges statute-barred, accepting the defense argument of attorney Antonio Leone and reducing his remaining sentence to 9 years and 4 days (from 15 years and 6 months).
For the other defendants involved in the trial, the Court instead declared the statute of limitations for the crimes.
The sentence represents a significant change compared to the first-instance judgment, which had sentenced Formisano and Sparandeo to more severe penalties.
