The approximately 50 Italian fans detained as a precaution yesterday before the opening match of the European Championship between Italy and Albania were released overnight. German authorities had detained the supporters after finding knives, firecrackers, and balaclavas on the ground, but it was not possible to directly link the material to their involvement.
Italian fans are now free to circulate in Germany, even though they were advised to return to Italy.
