MEDICOM has chosen Salerno as the setting for its new popular science series, "Give Me the LA," with the aim of raising awareness of respiratory diseases.
### The Fascinating Scenography of Salerno
The filming of the web series will touch some of the most iconic places in Salerno, such as Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the Maritime Station, Crescent and Piazza della Libertà, and the Lungomare promenade. These scenarios will be the backdrop to a series intended to inform the public about the risks and prevention of respiratory diseases, including the problems related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), the third leading cause of death worldwide.
### The Universe of Singing and Lung Health
In "Give Me the LA," the series not only tells health stories, but also the fascinating world of singing. The series features local artistic and professional figures, including Ciro Caravano, founder and longtime member of "Neri Per Caso" and director of the Salerno Pop Choir. Caravano will make a cameo appearance to highlight how singing can have psychological and social benefits and contribute to lung health.
### A MEDICOM Format Project
"Dammi il LA" is part of the well-established MEDICOM format, known for its ability to convey scientific messages through the languages of film, television, and popular series. The format was conceived by Salerno-born author Dario Nuzzo, creator of the local hit "Mukko Pallino" and creator of Mediaset programs such as "Mistero Adventure," "Wild," and "Dalla parte degli animali."
### Salerno as a Recurring Scenography
This isn't the first time Nuzzo has chosen Salerno for the set of MEDICOM. "Salerno's atmosphere offers a truly unique feel because it portrays a community that cares about quality of life," explains Nuzzo. Palazzo Fruscione, for example, was the residential building for the "Neighbors with Cholesterol," and the eastern part of the city served as the backdrop for "Notti In Bianco," a series about sleep disorders. Both series are available on Prime Video.
### Collaborations and Series Availability
Nuzzo expresses his delight at having renowned artists from Salerno contribute to enrich the health message, featuring Maestro Ciro Caravano. The branded content production of "Dammi il LA," made possible thanks to the support of the pharmaceutical company Menarini, will soon be available on Amazon Prime Video Italy.
