In Gioi, an ancient medieval village located in the heart of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, the Santecchia Horror Festival will be held, the first horror film festival in Cilento.
Created by ASD Off Limits, with the patronage of the Municipality of Gioi, the Province of Salerno and the National Park of Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni and from the synergy of Luigi Scarpa, director of the festival and award-winning horror director and the team of Anatema di Santa Santecchia, this new project is born, which aims to bring horror cinema to this area of Italy with an undisputed esoteric charm and to broaden its range of action towards a national and international audience, involving as guests the excellences of horror cinema made in Italy.
The festival, scheduled in Gioi from July 31 to August 4, 2024, is designed to be a totally immersive experience that will involve the entire village: screenings at the Convent of San Francesco, location scouting, workshops, meetings and convivial moments, to savor all the beauties that the Cilento land is able to offer.
Santecchia Horror Festival is part of the now ten-year-old context of “L'Anatema di Santa Santecchia”, a role-playing game / team escape room, which now in its tenth edition, boasts hundreds of participants from various Italian regions. Cilento, a territory already set of two important horror shorts, which have toured the world, winning several awards, Malum Aeterni and IVI ELV, as well as a place of legends and stories that have been handed down from generation to generation.
A prestigious jury composed of industry experts will evaluate and award the prizes.
