Bandits were active overnight in Serino, in the province of Avellino. The robbery targeted the post office on Via Fontanelle.
An explosive device was detonated this morning around 3.30am near the ATM.
The device was blown up by the explosion and in a short time the bandits made off with the money.
The explosion woke local residents, who quickly called the police. Carabinieri officers from the Solofra Company responded to the scene and conducted an investigation, assisted by the bomb squad.
