Naples. The clash between the newly emerging clans of the Spanish Quarter and Rione Sanità is behind the shooting the other evening at 16 Lungo San Raffaele in the Materdei area.
This is the second shooting in just over a month: the first in Vico Paradiso alla Salute on April 29th. According to initial investigations conducted by officers from the Montecalvario police station and the Naples Flying Squad, the shooting occurred the other evening, apparently involving a lone gunman.
The incident occurred around 23:45 PM. A lone man on a scooter stopped in front of the building and fired five shots at the front door, before quickly driving away. The bullets left several holes in the front door, but fortunately no one was injured.
Officers from the Montecalvario Police Station and the forensic team responded to the scene and began an investigation to identify the perpetrator and reconstruct the motive. Five 5mm shell casings were found on the pavement.

At this time, it's unclear who was targeted by the gunfire. The building does not house any criminals or people associated with local Camorra clans. Investigators are therefore not ruling out any possible explanation, including a warning to someone in the building or a personal vendetta.
The incident is causing concern among local residents, as Naples news reports have reported a similar incident a month ago. Last night's shooting has once again put the spotlight on crime in the area. Materdei and on the need for more decisive action by law enforcement to ensure citizen safety.
On May 20, again in the Materdei neighborhood, there was another shooting, with a gunshot that pierced the French window of an apartment and ended up in a boy's bedroom.
