Naples. Investigators are convinced that the night of fire at the Decumani was caused by a clash between the Mazzarella clan and the Contini clan, which, despite being decimated by recent raids and ongoing trials, has gone on the offensive.

Two serious episodes of violence occurred during the night between Saturday and Sunday in the Decumani area of Naples, creating no small amount of concern for citizens and commercial operators in the area, especially in this period of maximum tourist influx and therefore of earnings and economic benefits for all.

The first incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, when several calls to 113 reported a shooting on Via Duomo, on the corner of Via Forcella ai Mannesi.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found six spent 6 caliber pistol shells on the ground, but no signs of gunfire on any buildings or people. The most likely theory is that of a "stesa," an act of intimidation involving gunfire.

Just twenty minutes later, another alarm led the officers to via San Biagio dei Librai, where a homemade bomb had exploded near a pizzeria, damaging the shutter and a Renault parked nearby. The owners of the pizzeria said they had not received any threats or requests for protection money.

It is not yet clear whether the two episodes are connected, but investigators are evaluating several leads, including a possible attempt to redefine the balance of power between the clans in the area. The Decumani are considered to be under the control of the Mazzarella, while the Forcella area is controlled by the Giulianos.

The bomb explosion, as reported by Il Roma and Cronache di Napoli, has caused considerable concern among residents, who fear a return to violence in the area. Law enforcement has increased patrols in the area and is investigating to identify those responsible for the attacks.
