Stefania Craxi and her husband Marco Bassetti are safe and sound after being involved in the sinking of the yacht 'La Corsa' late this morning.
The 22-meter long pleasure boat caught fire in the Tyrrhenian Sea, ten miles south of Elba Island. At the time of the fire, the yacht was carrying the following daughter of the former leader of the PSI and her husband, CEO of Banijay Entertainment and founder of Endemol Italia, together with the captain of the boat.
All three managed to save themselves by abandoning the vessel thanks to a life raft. Shortly thereafter, the yacht, now engulfed in flames, sank.
The three were rescued by a patrol boat of the Portoferraio Coast Guard, which intervened immediately after the alarm reached the operations room. They were subsequently disembarked at the port of Marina di Campo, on the Island of Elba.
