Anyone who thought the heat had subsided was very wrong: the African anticyclone is back, with peaks of 42 degrees over the weekend.
Sicily will hit 40 degrees Celsius, while Puglia (Bari and Foggia) will hit 10 degrees Celsius, XNUMX degrees above the seasonal average. These are the expected peak temperatures for the weekend due to the resurgence of the African anticyclone.
The expansion of this high pressure area comes after the extreme bad weather of the last few days. Sunny skies will also return to the north, except for modest cloud cover in the Tri-Veneto region.
Maximum temperatures will rise up to 35 degrees on the Major Islands, 33°C in Puglia, 31-32 degrees also in the central-north.

Starting today, the heat, the meteorologist notes, "will start to get serious: highs of up to 38°C are expected between Sardinia and Sicily, 35 in Puglia and Campania, a muggy 34 in the Po Valley (Ferrara and Forlì), the same temperature but lower humidity also in Rome and Terni.
Today, yellowish skies are expected over Sardinia due to the arrival of desert sand, but this cover will not prevent the thermometer from rising significantly."
If the African anticyclone peaks over the weekend, with temperatures reaching 42 degrees Celsius in Sicily and 40 degrees Celsius in Puglia (Bari and Foggia), temperatures will reach 38 degrees Celsius in Matera as well. In the center, temperatures of 37 degrees Celsius are expected in Ascoli Piceno and Chieti.
The capital will see a high of 35°C, Florence 36°C on Saturday, and Milan 32°C on Saturday. In this scenario, between Saturday and Sunday, severe thunderstorms are possible in the Alps due to the brief passage of a severe low-pressure system over Central Europe.
