With the arrival of summer and the approach of the weekends of late June and July, a significant increase in road traffic is expected. In particular, outbound traffic will begin on the afternoon of the affected Fridays, and then intensify during the course of Saturday. A significant inbound flow is expected on Sunday afternoon and, to a lesser extent, on Monday morning, overlapping with the weekly traffic.
In the Capital, the feast of the Patron Saints Peter and Paul, celebrated on Saturday 29 June, could further increase travel on Friday 28 June. As for the month of July, a first large return of holidaymakers is expected on Sunday 28 July and on the morning of Monday 29 July.
To ensure informed and safe departures, Viabilità Italia has prepared a series of information tools, available on the website www.poliziadistato.it. Here, you can consult useful documents, including calendars with the stamps of traffic which indicate the time slots when traffic is prohibited for vehicles with a mass exceeding 7,5 tonnes.

The weekends of late June and July are expected to be characterized by heavy traffic. Peak traffic is expected in both the morning and evening on the weekends of June 29 and 30, as well as on Saturdays July 6 and 13. Particularly critical traffic situations are expected on the mornings of Saturdays July 20 and 27, while the evenings will see heavy but more manageable traffic. The Sundays of July 7, 14, 21 and 28 will present a similar picture, with heavy traffic in the morning and possible critical situations in the evening.
The summer traffic restrictions for vehicles over 7,5 tons include several time slots, including all Sundays from the end of June to the end of July, with variable extensions on Saturdays in July and Friday, July 26. Road owners and concessionaires will remove any removable roadworks to minimize the impact on traffic.
Where removal is not technically possible, measures will be implemented to ensure maximum safety and traffic flow. For up-to-date traffic information, residents can consult CCISS channels, including the toll-free number 1518, the websites www.cciss.it and mobile.cciss.it, Rai-Isoradio broadcasts, Onda Verde news on the three Radio-Rai networks, and RAI Teletext. For traffic status on the Anas road network, the "VAI" app and the single number 800.841.148 are available. Real-time information on the motorway network under concession is accessible through the channels of the individual concessionaire companies and on the website www.aiscat.it.
