Vitulazio. Once again, the cunning of an elderly woman foiled a scam and led to the arrest of a criminal.
The protagonist of the story is a 91-year-old woman from Vitulazio who, yesterday morning, received a phone call from a scammer pretending to be a carabiniere.
The man told her that his son had been arrested after causing a car accident and that 5000 euros were needed to free him.
The woman, however, did not trust and immediately called 112. The Carabinieri of the Vitulazio Station, already in the area for a territorial control service, intervened promptly.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers noticed a woman arguing heatedly with the elderly woman , trying to convince her to hand over the money. The woman, a 51-year-old from Santa Maria Capua Vetere, was arrested and charged with attempted aggravated fraud.
