Carabinieri patrols in the Castellammare di Stabia area, with a particular focus on public beaches, have led to complaints and seizures to combat the phenomenon of illegal beach umbrella rentals. The operation, conducted in collaboration with the Municipal Police and the Port Authority of Castellammare, has brought to light an illegal beach equipment rental business.
During the checks, the police seized 88 sunbeds intended for beachgoers in a public area of the municipal beach. This unlicensed activity generated significant profits for the illegal operators. On Corso De Gasperi, an additional 16 sunbeds were confiscated from a 36-year-old man, already known to law enforcement, who was renting them out without a license.
The same fate befell a 50-year-old from Castellammare di Stabia, who had 7 sunbeds, 22 chairs and 42 umbrellas seized, also in Corso De Gasperi. Both men will have to answer for illegally exercising a commercial activity. The total fines applied exceed 30 thousand euros.
