The cleaning and removal of the invasive vegetation that surrounds the archaeological artifact at Ponti Rossi has begun, a preliminary operation for the subsequent restoration of the site. This intervention is part of the projects included in the Strategic Plan of the Metropolitan City of Naples, with a total investment of 1,8 million euros.
The project attracted the attention of the metropolitan councilors Antonio Caiazzo (Strategic Plan), Antonio Sabino (Heritage) and Salvatore Flocco (Civil Protection). Flocco, together with the president of the Third Municipality Fabio Greco and the councilors Regina Aluzzi and Gabriele Petagna, was present on site, supervising the operations and collaborating with the Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the Municipality of Naples.
To ensure safety during the work, the City of Naples has prepared a dedicated traffic plan. The vegetation removal phase will last seven days, while the entire project, which includes surveying, probing, and excavation, will last a total of 60 days. The operations will be conducted by a specialized company, using a self-propelled platform with a telescopic boom. To minimize the impact on pedestrian and vehicular traffic, the survey and investigation activities will be conducted primarily at night.
