The municipal administration of Amalfi declares war on the phenomenon of "wild bag“, the indiscriminate abandonment of waste that disfigures the territory and puts the environment at risk.
To combat this incivility, several camera traps have been installed in strategic points of the municipality, both in the historic center and in the peripheral areas.
The operation, conducted jointly by the Municipal Police and the Environment Department of the Municipality, has already led to concrete results: 54 people have been identified and fined from 100 to 500 euros. The "smart guys" were captured on camera while they were abandoning waste incorrectly, not respecting the separate waste collection calendar.
“This action serves as a deterrent to combat the indiscriminate abandonment of waste, especially in high season,” says the Councilor for Supervision Francesco De Riso.
“The use of camera traps is necessary to consolidate the culture of respect for the environment, starting with the resident citizens who are the sentinels to improve waste management and the quality of our urban decorum”.
The operation to combat the "wild bag" will continue with the aim of raising awareness among citizens on the importance of correct waste management and protecting the environmental heritage of Amalfi.
