Andrea Pelliccio, a 27-year-old from Naples, died Saturday night during a party in Postiglione, in the province of Salerno.
Article Key Points
The young man was in the “Granatiello” picnic area where the “Brunico Fest” was taking place, a three-day musical event with concerts by national and international techno artists.
According to the reconstruction, Pelliccio had already felt ill in the early afternoon of Saturday, but only around 19:00 pm, when his conditions worsened, was an ambulance called. Unfortunately, despite the timely help, the young man died around 21:00 pm.
The causes of death are still to be ascertained. The autopsy will clarify whether Pelliccio's illness was actually caused by an epileptic attack, as initially hypothesized, and whether he had taken drugs.
The Vallo della Lucania Prosecutor's Office is investigating the event, which was canceled after the tragedy. The Carabinieri are verifying compliance with safety regulations, the number of rescuers present and whether there was any negligence on the part of the organizers, the "Brunico Fest", already known for other musical events.
The investigations
The Carabinieri are acquiring images from surveillance cameras in the area and interviewing witnesses to reconstruct the facts. They are also investigating whether the alarm for emergency services was given late.
The autopsy and technical investigations by the Carabinieri will have to shed light on the tragedy and clarify any responsibilities.
