Ancona. Two young Neapolitans, aged 23 and 20, with criminal records, were arrested by the Flying Squad and the Flying Squad of Ancona for aggravated fraud against a 95-year-old woman. The two criminals stole 20 gold jewels from her, weighing about two hundred grams and worth 11 thousand euros.
With a clever telephone scam, the 23-year-old pretended to be his nephew of the old woman telling her that the father (the woman's son) urgently needed money to pay off a debt at the Post Office. Otherwise, they would seize his phone and documents. To make the story more credible, the scammer pretended to lower his voice and insisted on the need to deliver the money by 15.30:XNUMX p.m.
While the woman was still on the phone, her 20-year-old accomplice showed up at her door pretending to be a police officer and made her hand over the gold jewelry.
The intuition of the Mobile Squad officers, engaged in a patrol service aimed at combating scams against the elderly, led to the arrest of the two criminals. The car in which they were traveling was intercepted in Borgo Rodi and, after an attempt to escape by the young people, the police officers managed to stop them.
The jewels were recovered
Thanks to the timely intervention of the police, the gold jewelry was recovered and returned to the elderly woman. The two young men, after the validation of the arrest by the Ancona Prosecutor's Office, were taken to the Montacuto prison.
